On the 6th of January I took my mom in for a CT guided biopsy of her liver. She had some "bumps" on her liver that weren't normal, and they wanted to get some samples to make sure it wasn't anything serious.
Well...
On Thursday the 8th of January My mom was diagnosed with pancreatic and liver cancer. I was with her when this news was given by our family doctor. It was pretty grim in how it was given... I guess there is no easy way of telling someone that they have cancer, let alone tell someone that its both in your liver and your pancreas and your chances of survival are, well... not so good. You know when he said I have bad news I was thinking "ok it will be bad but treatable". He then went on to say "I'm sorry you have cancer in your liver". I then was thinking.. "not good, but it CAN be treated! Its the liver." But then out came the words that it was also in her pancreases. That I knew in a instant that it wasn't good at all. I knew that the odds were now WAY against her. It sucked. The thought of my mom not living much longer sank deep... How could I loose my mom? Ethan hasn't even gotten a chance to really know her enough to remember her. My girls.. Geeze my girls. They really enjoy shopping for Birthday and Christmas gifts with their grandma. All the movies that they went to with my mom... *sigh* That is fun for them! I was upset to say the least. But I had to try and be strong for my mom.
We went home to her house and called all the brothers and let them know. It was a good weekend, everyone was able to visit. We were able to get her pain and nausea under control. She went through hell though. Its not fun to see your mom so very sick and not be able to do much for her. We are just hoping that she will soon be somewhat back to her old self. At least to enjoy the life that is at hand. She just sleeping a lot. I know the pain meds along with her body, is making her feel this way.
I think next week is when she will start her chemo treatments. I'm just praying that they will work long enough to keep her here, and help her to feel better... and just maybe... they will have a cure. I'm not ready to loose my mom. I'm really not. Shes to young, and I just don't want her to go!
So we will keep praying for a miracle. Please let there be a miracle!
Here is a blog that we created for her. You can leave comments for her.
